This workshop will provide an introduction to working with people who have learning disabilities. It will first offer an overview of the definition and features of learning disability, including assessment. It will then focus on nature of sexual offending by people with learning disabilities, including assessment for sexual offending and offer practical suggestions for working with people directly. This workshop it most suited to those who are a beginner in the area.
Biography
Dr Kerensa Hocken is a registered forensic psychologist. She has worked with people convicted of sexual offences for 24 years and specialises in working with those who have a learning disability. Kerensa is a trustee and co-founder of the Safer Living Foundation (SLF), a charity to prevent sexual abuse by working with those who have offended or are at risk of offending. She is a co-host of The Forensic Psychology Podcast and the BBC2 series Behind The Crime.
