Intrafamilial child abuse is one of the most common — and least understood — forms of harm.

In fact, intrafamilial CSA is estimated to account for between 1/3 and 2/3rds of cases. Within families, fathers, stepfathers and siblings often feature as perpetrators of this harm and abuse typically occurs over more extended periods than other forms of CSA and exploitation. It is also a form of harm that is often missed by statutory services and is typically poorly understood by professionals.
