Doctor Elaine Kavanagh: How do relatives of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) offenders navigate life following discovery of the offence?
Dr Elaine Kavanagh is a social worker with over twenty years of experience working with vulnerable clients with complex needs. Research fields of particular interest focus on stigma and group responses, and adjustments to a shared trauma. She earned her PhD from the University of Limerick with research about the experiences of family members of those accused or convicted of downloading Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
This Journal Club Session will be Chaired by David Prescott
A mental health practitioner of 41 years, David Prescott is the Director of the Safer Society Continuing Education Center. In that capacity he has overseen over 200 webinar interviews and trainings with a combined total of over 69,000 registrations. He has provided in-person trainings around the world for 25 years.
Mr. Prescott is the author and editor of 31 books and numerous articles and chapters in the areas of understanding and improving services to at-risk clients. This includes the two primary texts on the Good Lives Model and several related workbooks. Mr. Prescott has received three lifetime achievement awards from international organizations. He served as ATSA President in 2008-09.
Mr. Prescott also served as Co-Blogger for ATSA’s Sexual Abuse blog, read over a million times and rated among the top 10 blogs in the world on the topic, and co-authored the MASOC Newsletter for 16 years.
